March 2, 2020 Newsletter
Dear OSTPDX Members,
The latest Republican walkout has left many of us frustrated and angry. Despite our best efforts to urge Republicans to remain on the job and later to get back to work, they’d rather continue to play their partisan political games leaving behind their responsibilities to Oregonians. Though it may feel as though Oregon’s political environment is out of control at the moment, I invite you all to take control of what you can by continuing to call and write your representatives, attend a Swing Left letter writing event, and join us for the Secretary of State Candidate Forum & Political Action Fair. Also, the Multnomah County Democrats are urging voters to check their registrations to ensure they receive a ballot for the Primary election.
Two minutes to change the world
In Oregon, only registered Democrats get to choose who will be our Presidential nominee for the November election to beat Trump. We also choose for the United States Congress, and Oregon State positions that decide our path forward.
The Primary election is May 19, 2020
Deadline to change registration is April 28, 2020
Get a Primary ballot in May by changing your non-affiliated registration to Democrat.
It takes only 2 min. Go ahead and time it! Your values and your opinion matter!. Make a difference for 2020.
This year, be a Primary Voter!
Who do you want to represent you as President? Who will take action on the important issues you care about? When we all vote – you, me, our friends, families, neighbors and co-workers— our voices are heard, we choose who’s on the ballot. We can make real progress.
Lots of Oregon voters are updating their registration now to Democrat so they’ll be able to vote in the May primary. If you’re a non-affiliated voter (not registered as belonging to a political party), you’ll need to update your registration to Democrat to be a Primary Voter.
Check your status and update online at the Secretary of State’s website – it only takes two minutes. Get it done by April 28.

Priming for the primary:
When it comes to making government more transparent and fair elections more accessible, nothing matters more than your vote for Oregon's Secretary of State. With Oregon about to undergo her once-every-ten-years process of drawing new congressional district lines, stakes are especially high for 2020.
All three candidates on a single stage.
No other elected official holds more influence on our voting laws than Oregon's Secretary of State. And this forum gives you a unique opportunity to hear from all three primary candidates while on the same stage. Moderated by former Oregon Secretary of State Phil Keisling, you’ll gain an in-person perspective from who’s running and why. With a Democratic primary field that includes Oregon State Senator Mark Hass, Jamie McLeod-Skinner, and Cameron Smith, it’s their chance to earn your vote. The forum will also allow plenty of time for questions from all who attend.
Let's get energized!
The forum is part of the 2020 Political Action Fair, an event hosted by a community of volunteers who support Democratic candidates and aim to energize voters for 2020. Grassroots groups include Nasty Women Get Shit Done, Indivisible Oregon, Indivisible 97201, Indivisible Hillsboro, and One Small Thing PDX. Together, we can help usher in a more just, equitable, and sustainable future in Oregon. We look forward to meeting you!
GET INFORMED, STAY ENGAGED!
Doors open at 1:40 pm, event starts at 2:00 pm.
We are committed to creating a positive and accessible experience for all attendees. Please indicate on the RSVP form if you or a member of your party requires accommodation.

Action by Indivisible Oregon
Our Tuesday ask: We all want and need food, housing, and medical care. But Trump's budget slashes all of these while continuing to give away money to corporations and the rich. The only way to stop Trump is to elect a Progressive President and Congress. To do this we must have election security. We ask our Members of Congress to insert election security legislation into must-pass spending bills. We are running out of time. The action will be posted on Tuesday at 6:00 AM here: indivisibleor.org/actions
