Election Day Is Here!

On the Eve of the Election

By now most of us have cast our ballots and are anxiously awaiting the outcome of this seminal election. The days ahead are unpredictable and potentially alarming, perhaps even dangerous, but they will come with the knowledge that we’ve given our best. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to turn the tide nationally and statewide and to insure the well-being of all of our fellow citizens! One last thing we can all do is to remind our neighbors, family members, and friends that the deadline for putting a ballot into an official drop box is 8:00pm tomorrow, Tuesday, November 3. If anyone who doesn’t know where their nearest drop box is, send them to this site, which has all the latest information about drop boxes in Multnomah County.

Post-Election March and Rally Wednesday, November 4

OSTPDX has been involved with the Defend Democracy Coalition, comprised of 40 community groups, in planning a march and rally to take place the day after the election. This peaceful, nonviolent mobilization is part of a national effort coordinated by Choose Democracy, Protect the Results, Hold the Line, and others. We feel it is important to be willing to show up in case there is any interference with election results or intimidation from Trump and his bully groups. If Biden is the clear winner, we will celebrate. Please consider joining this family friendly event. We will gather at Revolution Hall, 1300 SE Stark, at 3:00pm. At 4:00, the march to Waterfront Park begins, where there will be speakers. Activities will conclude by 7:00pm, followed by a group march back to Revolution Hall. Please check the coalition’s Facebook page for any changes and updates. If you attend, please be mindful of what’s going on around you at all times and take care for your personal safety. There will be experienced security trained by ACLU peacekeepers throughout the event. Be sure to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.  For anyone who would like to participate from home or your car, go here for actions you can take.
